More northern communities have finalized their candidates’ list for mayor and council positions.
In Beauval, five men are challenging incumbent mayor Alex Maurice for the position.
They include Larry Roy, Joe Daigneault, Max Morin, Fred C. Roy and Eugene Kimbally.
In Ile-a-la-Crosse three people are running for mayor: Violet Bouvier, Allen J. Morin and incumbent Duane Favel.
In Cole Bay, Lance Couillonneur and Roseann Daigneault are challenging sitting leader Harold Aubichon.
Meantime in La Ronge, councillors Thomas Sierzycki and Al Loke are running to replace the departing Joe Hordyski as mayor.
Loke says he wants to help develop the community through business development and other progressive measures.
He says he also wants to hold town hall meetings, where local residents can feel free to discuss the issues.
“We have to do something to address the social (issues) and the needs of the youth, in providing alternative services for youth at risk. We have to do something to develop the Chamber (of Commerce) and support business development in the community,” Loke says.
Loke says he has a large amount of experience when it comes to community building, and he’s confident he can represent everyone.
