Buffalo Narrows mayor Bobby Woods says he wants people to come together in the wake of a recent tragedy in the community.
On Sunday afternoon, the body of a 31-year-old man was discovered on a walking trail in Woods’ community, just hours after he reportedly left a local residence.
Woods says the man had lived in the community for 10 years, and his family is well known.
He says emotions are high right now, and there is a lot of speculation about what happened. but he wants people to give authorities the time to do their job.
“Well, I don’t even know the full circumstances. We hear a lot of rumours, and I think the police did what they could, but there’s always allegations at a time like this, and there’s always a rumour about ‘this could have been done’ and ‘that could have been done’. But I think we need to understand that at a time like this, there’s a lot of feelings and a lot of blame. So I think we need to take this one step at a time,” Woods says.
Meantime, RCMP say they don’t suspect foul play and are still investigating.
