Northern Leader Critical Of Budgeted Foreign Aid

The mayor of Ile-a-la-Crosse is expressing deep concern about the Aboriginal initiatives outlined in last week’s federal budget.

 

Max Morin says the government needs to place more emphasis on the needs of the Canadian Aboriginal community, instead of sending so much money overseas.

 

Ottawa has set aside $3.5 billion for foreign aid this year.

 

Morin says Canada’s Aboriginal people are in dire need of funding for proper health care and roadways — something he feels should be higher on the government’s priority list.
