Northern Home Ownership Program Extended

The federal and provincial governments say they will continue offering the Remote Homeownership Program in northern Saskatchewan.
Since 1995, over 200 northern families have become homeowners through this program.
It provides forgivable equity loans of up to $50,000 to low-to-moderate-income families willing to build their home.
Families with combined incomes of less than $62,000 are eligible for the program.
Athabasca MLA Buckley Belanger maintains the program is popular with northern residents.
But Belanger acknowledges the rising costs of construction are prompting some northerners to ask for more provincial funding through this program.
