Northern Highway Re-Opened After Washout

Road access to the northern Saskatchewan community of Sandy Bay was temporarily cut off today.
A washout on Highway 135 between Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay at the Mokamin River stranded motorists in the area early this morning.
A Saskatchewan Highways official says a culvert on the road initially gave out yesterday, and crews were making repairs until 2:00 this morning.
However, five hours later, water was again flooding the road — and it was decided the road should be closed until repairs were made.
Crews finished their work early this afternoon.
