Healthcare workers in the North with SGEU have ratified a labour agreement that was reached back in January.

The collective bargaining agreement with SAHO received approval from 93 per cent of the union’s members in the Keewatin Yatthe, Mamawetan-Churchill River and Kelsey Trail health regions.

The deal is retroactive to April 1st of 2004 and expires March 31st, 2008.

It gives the workers a two per cent wage increase in each of the four years of the agreement. There are also market supplement wage increases to address recruitment and retention issues.

Health workers represented by SGEU include licenced practical nurses, special care aides and medical technicians and technologists.
