The three health regions in northern Saskatchewan have signed a new partnership agreement.

The deal is designed to maximize resources among the jurisdictions, particularly in the areas of health promotion and prevention.

The Mamawetan-Churchill River and Keewatin Yatthe health regions already had an arrangement worked out, but this is the first time the Athabasca Regional Health Authority has been included.

Some of the program areas to be shared include environmental health, medical officer coverage and diabetes prevention.

The medical health officer for the North, Dr. James Irvine, explains the goal of the agreement is to strengthen existing services through more cooperation.
