Northern Health Project Emphasizes Efficiency

Northern health stakeholders are hoping to get the word out about a new project aimed at making the best use of available health resources in the North.

The Shared Paths for Northern Health initiative is the brainchild of the Northern Health Strategy Working Group.

It’s identified four priority areas in northern health that could benefit from better information and resource sharing.

The areas of concern are mental health and addictions, chronic disease, perinatal health and dental health.

Each of those areas are being assessed by a team of front-line health providers in the North and members of northern communities.

Project coordinator Alan Buckley says recommendations should be coming down in a matter of months.

Delegates at next month’s Northern Health Conference in La Ronge will be getting a detailed description of the project.
