A northern Saskatchewan outfitter was fined today for exceeding the number of clients it was allowed to have on Trout Lake.

Sportman’s Lodge has been ordered to pay over $35,000 for violations that took place in June of last year.

That’s the highest fine that has ever been handed down for this type of activity.

The outfitter was convicted of the offence earlier this year, but Saskatchewan Environment spokesman Dave Harvey notes this isn’t the first time the company has been convicted for this sort of thing.

Harvey says that’s why his department is now thinking of revoking its outfitting licence.

He says a decision on that will be made in the next few days.
