Ralph Paul is the new chief of the English River First Nation.

Paul beat out five other candidates for chief in yesterday’s band election — including incumbent Archie Campbell.

Paul will serve a two-year term in office with a band council that looks largely the same as the one prior to the election.

Gloria Apesis, Andrew Gunn, Marie Black, Alfred Dawatsare and Frankie Campbell are all back for another term.

J.B. Campbell is the only newcomer.

He takes over from Etienne Black, who failed to get re-elected.
