October was a busy month for northern Saskatchewan’s new drug enforcement unit.

On Oct. 19, the unit assisted RCMP in La Loche with the arrest of a 41-year-old man. Members seized marijuana, cash and two rifles.

Then, on Oct. 27, officers made another arrest in Buffalo Narrows.

Officers searched a home, where they discovered 3.5 grams of cocaine and $3,000 in cash.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with trafficking.

Finally, on Oct. 29, officers seized 600 grams of marijuana, $400 in cash and a rifle from a home in Prince Albert.

A 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were each charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking.

The three incidents mark the first arrests by the new unit, which began operating last month.
