A La Ronge doctor will soon be headed east to carry the Olympic torch.
Sean Groves will be carrying the torch for the Canadian Medical Association, after his wife nominated him.
Groves will head to Cornwall, Ontario on Dec. 13, and the next day, he will make the run.
Groves says that he is excited, but there are also some nerves involved.
“The big thing is (a fear of) dropping the torch. It’s no different than any other relay race, where you’re passing it on to each other. So, you know, there’s always that worry. Mostly I’m just excited to get out and do it — I think it’ll be great. I hope the weather’s good,” he says.
The torch will pass through La Ronge on Nov. 7, but the names of the torchbearers have not been announced.
