Community members in Fond du Lac, especially children, had the opportunity to see the planes they own yesterday.

The band celebrated the strides its made in economic development — mainly the four planes it has acquired in the past 12 years.

Jim Glass, one of the owners of Transwest Air, says getting children excited about planes now could lead to them pursuing careers in aviation down the road.

Band economic development officer Napoleon Mercredi says the band will continue to expand in aviation, mining, and other areas because there are a lot of young people who will need jobs in a few years.

Mercredi says northern Saskatchewan may be maxed out in terms of transportation, so the community is going to look west to Fort McMurray.

Fond du Lac generates around $50,000 a month from its planes.
