A Cree Anglican bishop in northern Saskatchewan says he voted against a motion the church passed recently on same sex marriage.

At its recent synod, the Anglican Church of Canada voted in favour of –quote — “affirming the integrity and sanctity of committed adult same sex relationships”.

Bishop Charles Arthurson says he’s not in favour of the motion and suspects the majority of Anglicans in northern Saskatchewan feel the same way.

However, Arthurson says he’s not overly disappointed with the measure, and can’t see himself leaving the church over the issue.

The Anglican Church of Canada was scheduled to hold a vote on whether to approve of same sex blessing ceremonies, but put off that vote until 2007
