The country’s northern affairs ministers are wrapping up their annual forum in Whitehorse today.

Saskatchewan Northern Affairs Minister Joan Beatty admits being disappointed that federal minister Jim Prentice isn’t there.

However, Prentice has sent representatives — and Beatty is hoping to convince them to do something about the federal cap on post-secondary funding for First Nations students.

She says she knows of too many Native students who have a high school education, but are sitting at home because of a lack of funding.

Beatty says her counterparts are indicating they want some movement on this issue, as well.
