Several teams from northern mine sites will be present for the 37th Annual Mine Rescue Competition this weekend.

Saskatoon will play host to the event, which will see 500 highly trained men and women from Saskatchewan mines test their emergency response skills in very real simulated scenarios.

Saskatchewan Mining Association executive director Phil Reeves says the competion will see a number of previous winners from northern mining teams participating.

Reeves says the teams will be tested in a number of different categories such as first aid, fire fighting and mine problems.

Tomorrow’s competition will be open to the public and will be held at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
