A pair of weather records were set in northern Saskatchewan yesterday.

Bob Cormier of Environment Canada says both La Ronge and Meadow Lake were well above their previous highs for October 1st.

Cormier says the mercury reached 24.1 degrees Celsius in La Ronge yesterday.

The previous record for that date was 21.5 degrees Celsius, set in 1992.

Meanwhile, the temperature in Meadow Lake yesterday reached 27 degrees Celsius, breaking the old mark of 25.2 degrees Celsius, also set in 1992.

Cormier says the warm weather will continue through the rest of the week before dropping off.

Showers are expected by Sunday.

Cormier says the warm air originally came from the southwestern U.S., and drifted up the Rocky Mountains and before settling over the Prairies.
