North Sees Record Highs

Some northern communities experienced record temperatures yesterday.
La Ronge broke a 27-year-old record for warmest temperature recorded on July 23rd. The mercury hit 33 degrees Celsius yesterday, smashing the old mark of 30 degrees set in 1990.
The temperature reached 34 degrees in Creighton and Flin Flon. The old record of 29 degrees was set in 1989.
Buffalo Narrows recorded a high of 30 degrees yesterday, breaking the old record temperature of 28 degrees established in 2002.
Some older records fell further south. The mercury hit 33 degrees in Prince Albert. The previous record was 32 degrees, which was set in 1948. In Saskatoon, a high of 35 degrees was recorded. The old mark of 34 degrees was established in 1931.
Incidentally, Val Marie, Saskatchewan was Canada’s hot spot yesterday, reaching 40.3 degrees Celsius.
