The Town of Nipawin and several other groups are being commended for establishing a new Aboriginal employment partnership that is being called the “first of its kind in Canada.”

Nipawin Metis Local president Kathy Palidwar says the Aboriginal Employment Development Agreement signed yesterday has a total of 17 partners.

She says the partners are all striving for the same goal — to make the workforce more representative of the Aboriginal population.

Partners include the Red Earth, Cumberland House, and Shoal Lake First Nations, the town , three Metis locals, and several other agencies and organizations.
