Nilson Says Northerners Need More Southern Comfort

Saskatchewan’s health minister feels healthcare workers in Saskatoon and Prince Albert could do a better job of making northerners feel more welcome during medical trips down south.

That was one of the topics John Nilson raised at a roundtable discussion at last week’s Northern Health Conference in La Ronge.

Nilson says going to Saskatoon or P.A. for medical care is intimidating enough for northerners, who really benefit from a warm atmosphere whenever they encounter it down south.

Nilson says his statements stem from feedback he’s received personally from northern residents.

He also says he’s already spoken to regional health authorities in both cities about this issue.
