The Chairwoman of New North says good progress was made at last week’s annual general meeting in La Ronge.

Ina Fietz-Ray says leaders discussed several issues at a strategic planning session held during the event. Those include the need for better highways, community infrastructure and what can be done to advocate education and employment opportunities.

Delegates also swapped ideas on how to deal with the fact the northern development agreement is close to ending, and talked about different ways to accomplish land-use planning.

Fietz-Ray says leaders were also pleased to receive a visit from June Draude, the minister responsible for the north.

Fietz-Ray says the north plans to work closely with Minister Draude in the coming years.
