A proposed meeting next month between government ministers and New North is a go.

Chair Bobby Woods says he has received word from Municipal Affairs Minister Jeremy Harrison’s office that a sit-down will take place on Jan. 19.

The provincial government was criticized by northern mayors for not sending cabinet ministers to New North’s recent roundtable in Prince Albert.

However, Woods says he’s optimistic progress will be made on many issues at the upcoming meeting.

“Oh, I certainly am, because what we we did is we sent them our concerns — we put down and elaborated a little in regards to what they are, and we’re hoping it will give them some homework to come back and let us know exactly where we stand with those,” he says.

Woods says a meet and greet is set for the evening of Jan. 18 at the Prince Albert Travelodge.

Roundtable talks will be held the day after that.
