Cumberland MLA Doyle Vermette attended his first NDP caucus meeting Monday and Tuesday in North Battleford.

The rookie NDP MLA says he didn’t say much.

Vermette says it was more of an opportunity to see how caucus operates.

He says there’s lots to learn about how the political process works.

But he promises he will have more to say in caucus meetings in the coming months, once he gets a chance to talk to his constituents.

Vermette notes he still has to meet with a number of leaders on northern municipal and band councils.

Vermette was elected the MLA for Cumberland by defeating the Saskatchewan Party’s Dale McAuley in a by-election in late June.
