New Dam Causing Flooding Near Beauval

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says it is aware of the flooding that’s being caused by a dam in the Beauval area.

Spokesman Don Dill says northerners need to use extreme caution around the Lac La Plonge and Beaver Rivers because of the increased water flow.

Dill says the water that is rushing from Lac La Plonge is currently running on top of ice on the Beaver River into a flood plain.

However, Dill says people in the area are not in any danger of being flooded.

Dill says warnings have been issued to local residents, and those warnings are expected to last throughout the winter.

He says everyone, especially snowmobilers and fishers, needs to find alternate routes across the rivers or avoid them completely.
