New Chief Elected At Makwa Sahgaiehcan

A new chief has been elected to lead the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

Frank Kytwayhat was voted in by band members earlier this week.

Kytwayhat is a former councillor with the band and decided to run after former chief Helen Ben was elected tribal chief of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council last January.

Three incumbent councillors were re-elected. Dan Hoff, Walter Mitsuing and Ronald Mitsuing will be joined on council by newcomers Robert Mitsuing, Glenn Cantell, and Richard Ben.

All the positions are two-year terms.
