New Argument Made For All-Weather Road Project

A recent meeting between the Prime Minister and the country’s premiers has caught the attention of a northern Saskatchewan business leader.

Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corporation chair Glen Strong notes Stephen Harper and the premiers agreed that investing in Canada’s infrastructure would be a good way to counter the pending economic slowdown.

Strong says the Athabasca all-weather road project is an ideal way government could help northern communities grow, while also providing jobs and economic opportunities.

He notes the road project is awaiting an injection of government money, and he feels the time is now for both Ottawa and the province to step forward.

Strong says roughly 40 kilometres of brush has been cleared on a road from Highway 905 to the community of Wollaston Lake, but that is the extent of the work so far.
