The NDP candidate for Churchill River believes he could have a tremendous influence in Parliament for the riding.

Earl Cook says his time in the civil service gives him an edge when it comes to dealing with both the federal and provincial bureaucracy.

But Cook is also well aware that the NDP is in a position where it can hold the balance of power in a minority government.

Cook says if he’s elected as the riding’s MP, he and the NDP will be able to influence the governing party on issues like Aboriginal policy.

Cook also says voters shouldn’t overlook the fact that an NDP MP would have good connections with the provincial NDP government, and says he’s already established strong ties with the provincial NDP.
