Four First Nations and Metis youth have received scholarships to help them pursue a career in the policing/justice field.

Each of the students will receive $2,000 to go towards their education.

The recipients are Lashawn Wahpooseyan of Regina, who is taking Police Studies at SIAST; Dawn Jimmy of Onion Lake, who is enrolled at the FNUC; Jennifer Lavalley of Regina, who is also studying at the FNUC; and Geoffrey Gustafson of Prince Albert, who is taking classes at the University of Saskatchewan.

The cultural relations officer with the Regina Police Service, Winnie Malbeuf, says all of the students chosen show great promise.

The scholarships will be presented at 3:00 this afternoon at the Regina Police Service headquarters.
