The Youth Council of the Native Women’s Association of Canada has unveiled an initiative that it hopes will help prevent violence against women in Aboriginal communities.

The Youth Council Violence Prevention Toolkit features a power point presentation that includes fact sheets and videos so other youth can make presentations in their communities.

Tori-Lynn Wanotch is the national youth representative of NWAC.

She says she has been in violent relationships, and witnessed domestic violence at a young age.

The toolkit focuses on domestic, date, and psychological violence – as well as sexual assault and bullying.

It can be downloaded from NWAC’s website. (www.nwac-hq.org)
