The Prince Albert Grand Council Women’s Commission is hosting a conference this week.

The event is called “Working Towards Healthy and Safe Communities”, and includes presentations on subjects like crystal meth, family violence, gangs and bullying.

Commission chair Shirley Henderson says a coordinated approach is needed to stem these problems before they get any worse.

Henderson notes reserve boundaries aren’t keeping away problems any longer, as people who get into trouble are often bringing those issues back onto the reserve.

Henderson says she hopes this week’s discussions help create new ways of solving serious issues.

She also hopes delegates head back to their communities with a good sense of how to tackle the problems.
