The Prince Albert Arts Centre will be the scene of an Aboriginal arts showcase tonight.
Performance artist Warren Arcan, along with singers John J. Cook, Mitch Daigneault and John Arcand, will showcase their talents, beginning at 7 p.m.
This marks the first night of the Two Story Cafe, which will also have shows on Friday and Saturday, with different performers each time.
Organizer Judy McNaughton says there’s something for everyone’s artistic taste, including performance art, theatre, film, “rant” poetry, and a varity of musical styles.
She adds that the event is getting better each year, and more artists are becoming involved.
Preparations are also underway for a major show Thursday night at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts.
The 2009 Waniska (won-skah) National Aboriginal Music and Arts Showcase features several performances by award-winning singers in several different genres.
As well, Metis actor and singer Andrea Menard will be honoured for her contributions to the arts community.
Organizer Lyn Brown says volunteers are working feverishly right now to get everything just right, and more help is welcome.
She notes that tickets for the event are still available at the E.A. Rawlinson box office.
