Band members from the Beardy’s/Okemasis First Nation, Big River and other reserves will be taking part in a military parade tonight in Prince Albert.

The band members are between the ages of 12 to 18 and cadets in the Northern Saskatchewan Army Cadet Corps.

The recruits will be showcasing their new skills at a promotions parade inside the Armoury’s building.

Lieutenant Kevin Seesequasis, a public relations officer with the corps, says between 10 and 15 of the cadets are of Aboriginal ancestry.

He says the army cadets program gives them discipline, and shows them how hard work can pay off down the line.

Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony.

The parade starts at 6:30 pm.
