National Native Education Conference In The Works

A recent meeting of provincial ministers has sparked talk of a national conference on Aboriginal education.
Saskatchewan Deputy Premier Ken Krawetz says he and fellow cabinet minister Rob Norris pitched the idea last week.
Krawetz says he wants provinces to work with Aboriginal leaders to improve the number of First Nations and Metis kids who graduate from high school.
He says the idea has generated positive response from other provinces and Aboriginal leaders, including Assembly of First Nations National Chief Phil Fontaine.
Krawetz says he would like to see the conference staged sometime in 2009.
At this point, he’s not sure where it would take place.
