Residents of Cumberland House are getting their first look at the president of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples today.
Patrick Brazeau is scheduled to meet village councillors this afternoon, before touring Charlebois School and taking in a dinner at the local community centre.
Trip organizer Kim Beaudin says Brazeau has a number of topics he wants to touch on — including Section 67 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, and the Supreme Court’s Corbiere decision that gave off-reserve residents the right to vote.
Beaudin says the congress is keenly interested in the Cumberland area due to its large number of off-reserve residents.
