Officials at the Muskoday First Nation say a recent report indicating the band owes money to a local school division is overblown.

Last week, a spokesman for the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division publicly stated the band owes approximately $800,000.

However, representatives with the band, who did not want to be identified, say the figure is not that much and payments are being made.

About 150 children from Muskoday currently attend school in the school division, but that is scheduled to change next year.

Officials say the kids will likely go back to school on the reserve.
