The February 2009 election results of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation have been upheld by a tribunal.

An appeal was launched by Rodney Venne, who lost a close race for the urban councillor position.

The appeal was based on off reserve mail ballot discrepancies, ballot counting, and allegations of force and intimidation used.

Chief Cliff Tawpisin says the tribunal, made up of Marilee Rasmussen, Stephen Pillipow, and Rick Laliberte, upheld the election results.

The tribunal also found that there was no force nor intimidation used.

Tawpisin says this allows the band to move forward together and work on isssues of importance such as the constitution and economic planning.

He expects there to be a draft of the revised constitution available to membership in April 2010.
