A recent homicide in Pelican Narrows is prompting local residents to hold an awareness walk against violence there today.
24-year-old James Ballantyne was killed last week.
Since then, two men have been charged with second-degree murder.
Students from both reserve schools are taking part in today’s walk, and hanging up banners and posters throughout the community.
Elementary school vice-principal Brennan Janvier says it’s a way for locals to voice their dismay with recent events.
Janvier says his community has been deeply affected by last week’s homicide.
