A man from Grandmother’s Bay is no longer charged with second degree murder in connection to a homicide in the community last summer.

Instead, 19-year-old Isaiah Charles is facing a charge of assault and has been committed to stand trial in Court of Queen’s Bench.

Charles and two youths were charged last July following the stabbing death of 24-year-old Michael C. Ballantyne.

Ballantyne’s body was discovered on a street in Grandmother’s Bay in broad daylight.

The two youths are still facing charges of second degree murder. One will be back in court on February 9th for the continuation of his preliminary hearing. The other youth will make his next court appearance on February 16th.
