A Conservative Member of Parliament from southern Saskatchewan wants to establish a caucus of fellow federal politicians that will promote and protect outdoor traditions, including trapping.

Yorkton-Melville MP Garry Breitkreuz says fishing, hunting and trapping are outdoor activities that need to be preserved and protected — not only in northern Saskatchewan but across Canada, as well.

Breitkreuz says this new parliamentary outdoor caucus, which will consist of approximately 50 members from all parties, will begin meeting later next month.

He says they will focus on promoting the importance of fishing, hunting and trapping.
