The Morel mushroom season is not looking too bright according to one northern Agriculturist.

Gerry Ivanochko says the harvesting of Morel mushrooms isn’t off to a great start and the future isn’t looking any better because the lack of forest fires last year.

Ivanochko says although there aren’t many areas in the North where the Morel mushrooms are doing well, a few hot spots were found near Wapawekka, Key Lake and Lac La Plonge.

Ivanochko says with all of the moisture the North has received this spring, the outlook is pretty good for Chantrelle and Pine mushroom crops.
