More Police Boards Coming To The North

The provincial government is taking steps to establish more police boards across northern Saskatchewan.
Today, the New North municipalities association signed a new community policing framework agreement that could see as many as 34 boards created in northern towns and villages.
New North chair Georgina Jolibois says she supports the move.
Jolibois says it’s important to keep expanding the dialogue and relationship between northern residents and the RCMP.
Al Fraser, a former inspector with the Prince Albert Police Service, has been hired to help set up the boards.
He says the boards should be a reflection of the communities they serve, and be composed of elders, youth and other citizens.
The agreement will be in effect until 2029, and will be reviewed every two years.
