A project that will eventually provide high speed Internet access to 35 northern Saskatchewan communities got a funding boost yesterday.

The two-year, 8.9-million-dollar project is getting two million dollars in federal and provincial funding.

That’s on top of three million dollars that was committed from Industry Canada earlier this year.

The work will be completed in late 2006, pending environmental approval.

Federal Finance Minister Ralph Goodale says when the project is complete, northern Saskatchewan will be one of the most connected regions in Canada.
