Saskatchewan Environment says most of the smoke that’s been present throughout the North in the last few days is likely coming from some large fires in northern Alberta.

Spokewoman Jeanette Krayetski says a number of southern Saskatchewan communities have been experiencing some haze and the smell of smoke, as well.

Krayetski says there are 67 fires burning right now in Saskatchewan, but none of them are particularly large or threatening any communities.

Krayetski also says the air quality could get worse in the days ahead, as strong winds from the northwest are in the forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday.
