The Keewatin Yatthe Health Region is a step closer to addressing its doctors’ shortage in La Loche.

Spokesman Richard Petit says the local clinic in La Loche is currently staffed by two doctors with two other physicians also servicing the community on a rotating basis.

Petit says the doctors from the south that are offering temporary relief to the regulars have already agreed to stay in La Loche long-term, but are still negotiating terms of their contracts.

Petit expects the negotiations to take at least a couple of months.
