Montreal Lake Ready To Showcase Northern Culture

Organizers say this week’s Northern Saskatchewan Cultural Gathering is ready to go.

Organizer Roger Bird says the Montreal Lake Cree Nation submitted the winning bid to host the event, and preparations have come along nicely.

The event was organized after circumstances prevented the Northern Saskatchewan Games and Cultural Festival from taking place this year.

Bird says if the weather cooperates, the gathering will be a great opportunity for everyone to get together outdoors doing traditional activities.

He says, among other things, there will be cultural workshops for the public to attend.

Bird notes the event, which is slated to kick off tomorrow and wrap up on Sunday, will also feature a Voices of the North show, a cultural fashion show and an Aboriginal comedian.
