Montreal Lake Band Members Eligible for Rebates

The Montreal Lake Cree Nation is reminding its band members they may be eligible for some government money if they purchased gas or tobacco products on the reserve prior to 2001.

The band recently settled a lawsuit with the government which states Ottawa erred in collecting tax on purchases of fuel and tobacco products between 1994 and 2001.

Officials also say band members living off-reserve may be eligible for reimbursement, too. They just have to get in touch with a lawyer and take action before February 3rd.
