A former mayor of Buffalo Narrows feels he has what it takes to help lead the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan.

Ray Laliberte is running for MNS provincial treasurer in this month’s elections.

Laliberte says his understanding of finances, as well as his organizational and motivational skills make him the ideal candidate for the position.

Laliberte promises to emphasize communication and transparency if he comes out on top.

He also pledges to review the organization’s spending and funding, if elected.

Laliberte’s running mates include presidential candidate Dwayne Roth and provincial secretary candidate Ralph Kennedy.

Laliberte’s competition includes Shirley Arcand, Gabe Lafond, Allan Merasty and Morley Norton.

The incumbent MNS treasurer, Allan Morin, was first elected to the position in 1995 but is not seeking re-election.

The MNS elections take place on May 26th.
