A member of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan executive is one of the suspects charged with forgery in connection to last year’s MNS election.

Provincial secretary Ralph Kennedy made his first court appearance on the charge this morning in North Battleford.

Kennedy is one of nine people facing charges related to last year’s controversial election.

He is also the second high-profile Metis politician to be charged in the affair.

MNS area director Henry Cummings has also been charged.

Metis activist Robert Doucette says MNS rules stipulate that Kennedy must resign.

Kennedy will make his next court appearance in North Battleford on November 16th.
