Progress is apparently being made between the Provincial Government and Métis Nation of Saskatchewan officials in regards to holding a new election.

An Assistant Deputy Minister with the government confirms a meeting between the two sides took place last week. John Reid says the meeting was productive although nothing was decided.

He stresses the government cannot actually call a new election but they can help facilitate one. More talks are expected in the New Year.
