A total of 15 members of the Provincial Metis Council are flying to Ottawa today to take part in this weekend’s Metis National Council Assembly and election for MNC president.

There are 16 people on the PMC, but Saskatchewan is only allowed 15 delegates.

Metis Nation – Saskatchewan President Robert Doucette says area director Mavis Taylor won’t be going.

Doucette says neither the MNC nor the MNS can pay for the extra person to go.

The vote takes place tomorrow afternoon.

Former MNC president Clem Chartier, who has challenged his recent removal from office in court, is seeking re-election.

It’s believed he will be opposed by Metis Nation – British Columbia President Bruce Dumont, who took over from Chartier on an interim basis until a court intervened last month.
